WE’RE KICKING OFF A YEAR-LONG CAMPAIGN OF SERVICE BUT WE CAN’T DO IT WITHOUT YOU. TAKE A LOOK AT THE FOUR PHASES OF OUR CAMPAIGN AND FIND A WAY TO GIVE TO OTHERS DAILY!
SEPTEMBER – NOVEMBER ’12 – SERVICE: Random Acts of Godly Kindness – This phase of the campaign will focus on meeting people’s needs tangibly. People in need will be encouraged to email the BE LIKE G.O.D campaign with tangible needs that they have. The emails will be read and evaluated and one need per week will be chosen. That need will be placed anonymously on the One Way website every Monday and people are encouraged to email BE LIKE G.O.D. if they are able to meet that need no later than Thursday of that week. This phase will run for three months – at the end of this phase, 12 individual needs would have been met. Examples of needs range from groceries needed, house cleaning, gas cards, bills paid, text books for college students, job resources for the unemployed and more. Stories of the campaign benefactors from the campaign will be posted every Sunday to the website.
NOVEMBER ‘12-FEBRUARY ’13 – RESOURCES: CLOTHES, FOOD, & SHELTER – This phase is one where people will be mobilized nationwide to give to those in need by donating coats in winter climates, volunteering at soup kitchens, giving food to the homeless, identifying shelters for those in need of lodging and more.
MARCH-MAY ’13 – GIVING: MEETING AN INTERNATIONAL NEED WITH OUR FINANCES – This phase mobilizes all to give what they can financially to provide funding for an international cause. The cause identified by the BE LIKE G.O.D. campaign is the country of Ethiopia’s need to build water valves for their community. The campaign will raise funds over this three month period and then will make a donation to the building efforts with the funds raised.
JUNE-AUGUST ’13 – TIME: MENTOR A CHILD- This phase is all about affecting the children of today. Many programs focus on youth engagement but the BE LIKE G.O.D. campaign will reach children ages 3-12. This is the critical age where many children born to unstable households are shaped without the care of an adult. This phase will be an intentional partnership with a nationwide mentoring organization – the goal is to have a nationwide effort for Christians to mentor young children. Though this phase is three months, we encourage all to continue on with this effort past the initial three month time span.
